Addam Swapp was released from custody Tuesday morning.
For privacy and security reasons, he was set free from the Sanpete County Jail, rather than from a state prison.
Swapp has been behind bars since 1988, after he bombed an LDS Church building and held police at bay, in a 13-day standoff that drew national attention.
One officer was killed during the incident.
Swapp, now 52, served time in both state and federal prisons.
He was released into the custody of relatives who still reside in Utah.
