A Zoning Feud Simmering in Park City

A RECENT CRACKDOWN -- ON A 2004 SUMMIT COUNTY ZONING ORDINANCE -- IS PITTING NEIGHBOR-AGAINST-NEIGHBOR, IN THE HIGHLAND ESTATES AREA OF PARK CITY.

THE CONTROVERSY IS OVER HOME-BASED BUSINESSES.

THE REGULATION LIMITS COMMERCIAL VENTURES -- IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS -- TO JUST ONE COMPANY VEHICLE, AND ONE EMPLOYEE.

RANDY GODFREY'S "HIGH COUNTRY LAWN CARE AND SNOW REMOVAL" HAS MORE, OF BOTH. BUT HE WANTS TO KNOW WHY, THIS HAS SUDDENLY BECOME AN ISSUE.

NEIGHBORS SAY THE CITATIONS ARE NINE YEARS OVERDUE. THEY SAY THE HOME BUSINESS -- AND OTHERS, LIKE IT -- HAVE BECOME A HAZARD FOR PEDESTRIANS, INCLUDING KIDS WALKING TO SCHOOL.

THE COUNTY PLANS TO AIR THE ISSUE FURTHER, AT A PUBLIC HEARING, NEXT WEEK.
