Good Samaritan Hit While Trying to Assist Others in a Fender Bender

A TAYLORSVILLE MAN WAS IN CRITICAL CONDITION, AFTER BEING HIT BY A CAR -- ON REDWOOD ROAD, TUESDAY MORNING -- AS HE WAS WALKING INTO TRAFFIC, ATTEMPTING TO ASSIST VICTIMS OF A CRASH THAT HAD OCCURRED MOMENTS BEFORE.

UNIFIED POLICE LT. JUSTIN HOYAL SAYS, THE VICTIM WAS STRUCK BY A SOUTHBOUND, 21-YEAR-OLD MALE DRIVER, AT 52ND SOUTH, IN FRONT OF TAYLORSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL.

POLICE SAY THE MAN WALKED INTO THE BUSY ROADWAY, PERHAPS IN AN EFFORT TO DIRECT TRAFFIC.  HE WAS ALSO SPEAKING ON A CELL PHONE AT THE TIME.

WITNESSES SAY THE SOUTHBOUND DRIVER HAD THE GREEN LIGHT. HE IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE CITED.

 THERE WERE NO INJURIES IN THE ORIGINAL 2-CAR CRASH.
