Protesters Picket Salt Lake BLM Office

MORE THAN A HUNDRED PEOPLE HELD A RALLY THIS WEEK, IN SALT LAKE, TO PROTEST THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S PLAN TO LEASE 125 SQUARE MILES -- OF THE SAN RAFAEL SWELL -- FOR OIL AND GAS DRILLING.

THE AREA IS A LARGELY UNTOUCHED LANDSCAPE OF CANYONS, REEFS AND MESA TOPS, IN CENTRAL UTAH.

IT'S NOT A NATIONAL PARK OR MONUMENT...BUT CAMPERS SAY IT HAS SOME OF UTAH'S BEST RECREATIONAL TERRAIN.
