Sandy Jewelry Store Burglar Caught Red-Handed

SANDY POLICE CAUGHT A JEWELRY STORE BURGLARY SUSPECT -- RED-HANDED, EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING -- AS HE WAS TRYING TO GET OUT.

CINDY STREET -- MANAGER OF THE SIERRA-WEST STORE, AT STATE STREET AND 106TH SOUTH -- SAYS THE SUSPECT DID A LOT OF DAMAGE... BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET AWAY WITH ANY JEWELRY OR CASH.

HE HAD ALLEGEDLY BROKEN INTO A NEIGHBORING BUSINESS, AND CRAWLED THROUGH THE CEILING INTO THE STORE.

BUT HE COULDN'T GET BACK UP TO CEILING AGAIN, TO RETRACE HIS STEPS.

SO, INSTEAD, GENE RICHINS, 31, IS NOW IN ANOTHER LOCATION WITH NO EASY WAY OUT... THE SALT LAKE COUNTY JAIL.
