South Jordan City Considering a Break From the Jordan School District

JUST DAYS AFTER A NEAR HALF-BILLION DOLLAR JORDAN SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND MEASURE FAILED...A SOUTH JORDAN CITY COUNCIL MEMBER WANTS SCHOOLS IN HIS CITY, TO BREAK AWAY FROM THE CASH-STRAPPED DISTRICT.

COUNCILMAN CHUCK NEWTON BELIEVES A BREAK COULD SAVE SOUTH JORDAN HOMEOWNERS 10 TO 20 PERCENT ON PROPERTY TAXES.

HE SAYS HIS COMMUNITY NEEDS ANOTHER HIGH SCHOOL, JUNIOR HIGH, AND TWO ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.

AND NEWTON THINKS IT MIGHT BE MORE COST EFFECTIVE TO CREATE A CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, AS SALT LAKE AND MURRAY NOW HAVE.
