State Wildlife Officials Hope BYU Study Can Help Them Reverse Dropping Deer Numbers

UTAH WILDLIFE RESOURCES OFFICIALS HAVE A MYSTERY ON THEIR HANDS.

AND THEY'RE HOPING A BYU RESEARCH STUDY CAN HELP THEM SOLVE IT.

SINCE THE MID-1980'S, OUR STATE'S MULE DEER POPULATION HAS DROPPED, BY ABOUT 50 PERCENT.

FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS, A TEAM OF BRIGHAM YOUNG FACULTY AND STUDENTS HAS BEEN MONITORING HUNDREDS OF FAWN, TRYING TO DETERMINE WHETHER PREDATORS, OR NATURAL CAUSES, ARE KILLING THEM.

DWR OFFICIALS SAY, THE RESEARCH SHOULD HELP THEM IN MAKING PLANS TO RESTORE UTAH DEER POPULATIONS.
