Teens Rescued From Large Ice Block After it Floats Away From Shore

A PAIR OF MAGNA BOYS, BOTH 13, WAS LUCKY TO AVOID INJURY, AFTER A HARROWING ACCIDENT ON GRANTSVILLE RESERVOIR.

TOOELE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES SAY THE TWO HAD TO BE RESCUED -- WHILE SITTING ON A LARGE ICE SHEET -- AFTER IT DRIFTED FROM SHORE.

ICE RESCUE SWIMMERS -- FROM GRANTSVILLE AND NORTH TOOELE FIRE DEPARTMENTS -- RETRIEVED THE BOYS, AFTER CROSSING ABOUT 2-HUNDRED FEET OF OPEN WATER, TO GIVE THEM LIFE JACKETS AND FLOAT BOARDS.

THEY SECURED THE BOYS TO THE BOARDS, AND PULLED THEM TO SAFETY, WITH ROPES.

THE BOYS WERE SCARED, BUT NOT HURT, FOLLOWING THE 45-MINUTE RESCUE.
