The General Utah Deer Hunt is Off to a Good Start

THE NUMBER OF HUNTERS REMAINS WAY DOWN, FROM DECADES AGO, BUT -- FOR THOUSANDS OF UTAH FAMILIES -- THE ANNUAL GENERAL DEER HUNT IS STILL A TRADITION.

THE HUNT OPENED LAST SATURDAY...AND RUNS THROUGH THIS COMING SATURDAY.

LYNN CHAMBERLAIN -- WITH THE DIVISION OF WILDLIFE RESOURCES -- SAYS, EVERY YEAR, THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM WITH HUNTERS, IS THEIR ILLEGAL HABIT OF DRIVING WITH THEIR RIFLE AT THE READY.  YOU CANNOT HAVE A "CHAMBERED" BULLET IN YOUR GUN, WHILE DRIVING.

AN ESTIMATED 17-THOUSAND HUNTERS DESCENDED UPON THE SOUTHERN UTAH HIGH COUNTRY, LAST WEEKEND.

THAT AREA HAS BECOME THE MOST POPULAR IN THE STATE, FOR DEER HUNTERS.

WILDLIFE OFFICIALS SAY, HUNTER SUCCESS RATES -- SO FAR THIS SEASON -- HAVE BEEN THE STRONGEST OUR STATE HAS SEEN IN YEARS.
