Utah Population Expected to Double Over Next 30 Years

UTAH'S POPULATION IS EXPECTED TO DOUBLE -- OVER THE NEXT THIRTY YEARS -- AND ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE WORKING, THIS WEEK, TO PREPARE FOR THE GROWTH.

GOVERNOR GARY HERBERT WAS AMONG MORE THAN 4-HUNDRED LEADERS -- FROM ACROSS THE STATE -- AT THE "WASATCH FRONT 2040" CONSORTIUM, AT THE SALT PALACE.

DURING THE MEETING, ELECTED OFFICIALS WERE INTRODUCED TO A COLLECTION OF ON-LINE SERVICES -- CALLED A 'COMMUNITY PLANNING TOOLBOX' -- TO HELP THEM PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE.

THE GOVERNOR SAYS, THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE CONSORTIUM IS ON WATER, AIR QUALITY AND TRANSPORTATION ISSUES.

ALSO -- OVER THE NEXT TWO YEARS -- 'ENVISION UTAH' WILL CONDUCT A STATEWIDE STUDY, TO IDENTIFY ADDITIONAL GROWTH CONCERNS, AMONG UTAHNS.
