Utah Ski Officials are Optimistic About Their New Season

WITH OUR UTAH SKI SEASON GETTING OFF TO AN EARLIER-THAN-NORMAL START, INDUSTRY OFFICIALS HOPE THAT'S A GOOD OMEN, FOR A STRONGER SEASON.

BOTH SNOW TOTALS -- AND SKIER DAYS -- HAVE BEEN DOWN, THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS...FOLLOWING THE 2010-2011 SEASON, THAT HAD PEOPLE SKIING ON THE FOURTH OF JULY.

ANDY MILLER -- AT PARK CITY RESORT -- SAYS SKIERS ARE EMBRACING THEIR NEW MULTI-RESORT, SEASON PASS.

IN AN AVERAGE SKI YEAR, THE UTAH INDUSTRY EMPLOYS ABOUT 20,000 PEOPLE... AND PUTS $1.3-BILLION INTO THE STATE ECONOMY.

LAST YEAR THERE WERE ABOUT FOUR MILLION SKIER DAYS, ACROSS UTAH.
